Lesley was born on March 21, 1975 in San Diego, California. She spent the first nine years of her life moving around, since her father was in the Navy. During those years, Lesley lived in California, Japan, and Hawaii. When Lesley's father retired from the Navy in 1984, her family moved to Cheney, Washington. Lesley lived in Cheney for nearly thirteen years. Not only did Lesley graduate from high school and college in Cheney, she also met Dan, her future husband, there. Lesley and Dan now live in Enumclaw, Washington, with their three children.

Lesley first began her foray into writing at the age of eight, when she made an attempt to write a novel. In seventh grade, Lesley entered the American Legion Auxiliary Essay Contest; not only did she come in first place for the local level (Cheney), she also placed first at the state level (Washington). As a teenager, Lesley wrote poems, short stories, and studied animation scriptwriting. While Lesley was in high school, she also volunteered to write the "At Your Library" columns that appeared in the Cheney Free Press between January 1991 and August 1992.

Lesley learned to write for live-action television while in college. In 1994, Lesley served as part of a writing team for Alpha House, a short serial series produced by Easterm Washington University. In 1995, a script she had written, titled, Fear of the Unknown, was produced for a summer college workshop; in fact, Lesley ended up portraying the main character in her script. Lesley also served as a story editor and a co-director the other production produced during that summer college workshop, which was titled, Choices.

During her college years, Lesley also had involvement with two college radio stations: KOOP-AM (a carrier current station that broadcast to the dorms, where she was both a disc jockey and the promotions director) and KEWU-FM (Eastern Washington University's 10,000 watt jazz station, where she was a disc jockey). Lesley also held several positions on the college's one-hour live television show, You're in Good Company: lighting, art segment producer, technical director, and director.

On the Internet, Lesley founded the TRULY OUTRAGEOUS! JEM Mailing List, an e-mail list devoted to the 1980s cartoon and doll Jem, in 1996. She is also a former Internet radio broadcaster; Lesley and her husband had an Internet radio station called AeschTunes that broadcast through Live365.com.

Between 1995 and 2000, Lesley had some pieces published in Between the Lines, an online ezine that was dedicated to pop singer Debbie Gibson; in 1995, a review Lesley wrote with her older sister of Debbie's then current album, Think With Your Heart, was voted the Best Album Review of 1995 by the moderators. Lesley has also served as the Lead News Editor for Digital Media FX from May 2002-April 2004, had a piece published on the Sabledrake website in February 2004, and served as the Anime editor and Newsletter Manager for BellaOnline from September 2007-June 2013.

Currently, Lesley maintains the AeschTunes, Lesley's Musings... on Manga & Anime and Lesley’s Musings… on Entertainment blogs, and writes manga reviews for Blogcritics.org's "Sixty Minute Manga" feature. Lesley also works in the Titling Department at Demand Media Studios.
